Our employee in the spotlight this month is central to the innovation of Corsair Engineering products and services. Tim Dunn has been leading graphics engineering for Corsair Engineering since May of 2013. Under his tutelage and through application of his sixteen years of industry experience, Corsair Engineering graphic artists have produced a wide array of content for level I-IV interactive media instruction, visual databases used in high fidelity simulation, and 3D models for tactical vehicles, equipment and aircraft.
What sets Tim apart and brings him into the spotlight this month is his leadership. Dedicated to training his personnel to provide the highest quality of products, Tim sets the tone for graphics engineering by developing creative training solutions designed to best transfer knowledge to our customers’ students. “Leading graphics engineering provides the opportunity to multiply our collective capabilities by tapping into the strengths of each individual artist. I’ve also broadened my knowledge base through the act of teaching and training junior artists in a wide spectrum of techniques.”
Tim’s devotion to continuous process improvement has proven beneficial to other functional areas beyond graphics engineering. In concert with instructional designers, he refined the media request process through application of innovative software tools, directly resulting in courseware development efficiency, labor time savings, and the ability to focus that time in areas that improve the quality of our products. Tim enhanced the methods of 3D model construction by providing our software engineers with tailor made media assets ready for manipulation in virtual environments.
Keeping up-to-date with the latest in technological advancements is important to Tim and his team. “We’re just scratching the surface of the future potential of Virtual Reality (VR). Advances in miniaturization and computer processing have made efficient, affordable use of VR technology possible. VR goggles and immersive environments will provide unlimited training possibilities.”
When not in the office or leading a bowling league team, Tim enjoys spending time with his family.
